Make this bright, refreshing Limoncello Margarita by balancing sweet Italian liqueur with tart lime and quality tequila. It is an easy cocktail for your next gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Limoncello Liqueur
  • 0.5 oz Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Coarse Salt or Margarita Salt (for rim)
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass or margarita glass. Roll the rim in coarse salt. Fill the glass with fresh ice.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, fresh lime juice, limoncello, and agave nectar or simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  3. Add ice and shake: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with ice. Seal the shaker tightly and shake hard until the outside is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds.
  4. Strain and serve: Strain the mixture into your prepared, ice-filled glass.
  5. Garnish: Garnish with a fresh lime wedge.

Notes

  • For a frozen Limoncello Margarita, combine all ingredients with 1 cup of ice in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • If you want a slightly different flavor, use a reposado tequila instead of blanco for a hint of oak.
  • Taste before adding sweetener; limoncello varies in sweetness. You may not need the agave nectar.
