Ingredients
Scale
2 medium green bananas (unripe)
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
Instructions
Prepare the bananas: Peel the green bananas. Slice them very thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works best for uniform thickness.
Coat the slices: In a medium bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil until lightly coated.
Mix the topping: In a small, separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
Toss with sugar: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the oiled banana slices and toss gently until all slices are evenly coated.
Arrange in air fryer: Place the coated banana slices in a single layer inside your air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding, which prevents crisping.
Air fry: Cook at 325 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius) for 10 to 14 minutes.
Shake halfway: At the 7-minute mark, carefully pull out the basket and shake it well to redistribute the chips. Return to the air fryer.
Check for crispness: Continue cooking until the chips are golden brown and crisp. Cooking time varies based on thickness and air fryer model.
Cool completely: Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool down.
Notes
Use green, unripe bananas for the best texture; ripe bananas become soft or mushy when air fried.
For a lower sugar option, reduce the sugar to 1 tablespoon and increase the cinnamon slightly.
Store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
