Make perfectly caramelized pineapple chunks quickly in your air fryer. This simple recipe uses fresh pineapple and a light cinnamon sugar coating for a sweet, warm snack or dessert topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place the pineapple chunks in a medium bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt together.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pineapple chunks and toss gently until the pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the coated pineapple chunks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  7. Check the pineapple after 8 minutes; you want the edges to look slightly browned and caramelized.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a savory side dish, skip the sugar and toss the pineapple with 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika and a pinch of cayenne pepper before air frying.
  • If you use frozen pineapple chunks, you may need to increase the cook time by 2 to 4 minutes. Do not thaw them first.
  • This makes a great topping for vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
