Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 (18-ounce) package chocolate chip cookie dough, softened
  • 24 Oreo cookies
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box devil’s food cake mix
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Press half of the cookie dough mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  6. Arrange the Oreo cookies in a single layer over the cookie dough base.
  7. In a medium bowl, whisk together the devil’s food cake mix, water, eggs, and vegetable oil until smooth.
  8. Pour the brownie batter evenly over the Oreo layer.
  9. Dollop the remaining cookie dough over the brownie batter and gently spread it to cover.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing. For cleaner cuts, use a sharp knife dipped in hot water.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, use your favorite homemade brownie recipe instead of a cake mix.
  • Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the brownie batter for extra texture.
  • Chill the brownies for at least 30 minutes before slicing to help them set.
  • These brownies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
