A crowd-pleasing Tex-Mex appetizer with distinct, flavorful layers, perfect for any gathering.

  • 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 container (16 ounces) sour cream
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 jar (16 ounces) salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced black olives, drained

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix refried beans with taco seasoning and water. Spread evenly in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In another bowl, combine sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, and milk. Spread this mixture over the refried beans.
  3. Spread the salsa evenly over the sour cream layer.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa.
  5. Top with chopped tomatoes.
  6. Scatter the drained black olives over the tomatoes.
  7. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use a clear glass dish to showcase the distinct layers.
  • For a spicier dip, use a hot salsa or add a layer of pickled jalapeños.
  • Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
