Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup hot pepper jelly
2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)
4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch pie plate or a small oven-safe dish.
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until fully combined and smooth.
Spread the cheese mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
If using nuts, sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts over the cheese layer.
Spoon the hot pepper jelly evenly over the top of the cheese mixture. Do not stir it in; you want distinct layers.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dip is heated through and the edges are slightly bubbly.
Remove from the oven. If using bacon, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top.
Garnish with chopped green onions.
Serve warm immediately with crackers, tortilla chips, or vegetable sticks.
Notes
For a make-ahead option, assemble the dip completely (without baking) and cover it tightly. Refrigerate for up to 2 days. Add 5 extra minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.

If you prefer a less spicy dip, use mild or sweet red pepper jelly instead of hot pepper jelly.
