Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup hot honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub them lightly with olive oil and season both sides with salt and pepper. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, whisk together the hot honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic to create the glaze.
Brush about half of the hot honey glaze evenly over the top of the salmon fillets.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush the remaining glaze over the salmon to build a sticky, caramelized finish. Watch carefully to prevent the honey from burning.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
For pan-seared salmon, cook skin-side down in an oven-safe skillet for 4 minutes, then flip, brush with glaze, and transfer the skillet to the oven for 6-8 minutes.
If you do not have hot honey, mix 1/4 cup regular honey with 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a dash of your favorite hot sauce.
Serve this sweet and spicy fish recipe with roasted asparagus or fluffy white rice to soak up any extra glaze.
