A simple and aromatic spiced apple cider recipe perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy evening.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • Optional: 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange slices in a large pot.
  2. If using, stir in brown sugar or maple syrup.
  3. Heat over medium heat until simmering. Do not boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for at least 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Remove cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange slices before serving.
  6. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker version, combine all ingredients in a slow cooker and heat on low for 2-3 hours.
  • You can add other mulling spices like star anise or cardamom pods.
  • For an adult version, add a shot of rum, bourbon, or spiced rum to each mug.
