A simple and authentic guacamole recipe that is perfect for parties, taco nights, or as a healthy snack. This recipe balances ripe avocados with lime, salt, cilantro, and onion for a creamy and flavorful dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 12 serrano chilies, finely minced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup diced tomato

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado flesh with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. Some chunks are good!
  3. Add the chopped red onion, minced serrano chilies, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt to the bowl.
  4. If using, gently fold in the diced tomato.
  5. Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lime juice.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos and other dishes.

Notes

  • To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole, ensuring no air pockets, and refrigerate.
  • For a smoother guacamole, you can use a food processor, but be careful not to over-process.
  • Adjust the amount of serrano chilies to control the spice level.
