Ingredients
Scale
2 slices of bread
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 ounces cheese, sliced or shredded (cheddar, American, or a mix)
Instructions
Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
Layer the cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, butter-side up.
Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
Cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
Remove from skillet, slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can spread mayonnaise on the outside of the bread instead of butter.
Experiment with different cheese combinations like cheddar and Gruyère for a more complex flavor.
Keep the heat on medium-low to ensure the bread toasts evenly without burning before the cheese melts.
