Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 ounces cold smoked salmon, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
1 small shallot, minced (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl.
Add the chopped smoked salmon, fresh dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, sour cream (or yogurt), and minced shallot (if using) to the bowl.
Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to combine all ingredients until the dip is creamy and the salmon is evenly distributed. Do not overmix; a slightly chunky texture is fine.
Taste the dip and season with salt and pepper as needed. Remember that smoked salmon is already salty.
Cover the bowl and chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve cold with crackers, bagel chips, cucumber slices, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
For a low-carb appetizer, serve this dip with celery sticks or bell pepper strips instead of crackers. This recipe fits well with a keto meal plan delivery approach due to its fat content.
You can prepare this dip up to 24 hours ahead of time. Keep it covered in the refrigerator.
If you prefer a smoother texture, you can pulse the ingredients in a food processor, but stop before it becomes completely smooth.
