A simple fall dessert with a crunchy oat topping, perfect for beginners and Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Toss apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread in a baking dish.
  3. Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle topping over apples. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  5. Serve warm with ice cream.

Notes

  • Use firm apples to avoid mushiness.
  • Make ahead and reheat before serving.
