Classic Cornbread Dressing

A comforting and flavorful cornbread dressing, perfect for your holiday table.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 inch) package cornbread mix
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Prepare cornbread according to package directions. Let cool completely.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery, and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Crumble the cooled cornbread into a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add the cooked onion and celery mixture to the bowl with the cornbread.
  6. Stir in salt, pepper, sage, and thyme.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together chicken broth and beaten eggs.
  8. Pour the broth and egg mixture over the cornbread mixture and stir gently to combine.
  9. Transfer the dressing to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until heated through and lightly golden on top.
