Make this irresistible air fryer cheesy egg toast for a satisfying, protein-packed breakfast that is ready in minutes. This recipe combines melted cheese and egg on golden toast for an easy morning meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices bread (sourdough or thick-cut recommended)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1 teaspoon butter or cooking spray
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease the air fryer basket or line it with a small piece of parchment paper designed for air fryers.
  2. Prepare the toast: You can lightly toast the bread in a toaster first, or proceed directly to the air fryer for a softer base.
  3. Create the well: Gently press down the center of each slice of bread to create a slight well or indentation for the egg.
  4. Add cheese: Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese onto the bottom of the well in each slice of bread.
  5. Add the egg: Carefully crack one egg into the cheese-lined well of each slice of bread.
  6. Season: Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper. Top the egg with the remaining shredded cheese.
  7. Air Fry: Place the toast carefully in the air fryer basket. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes, depending on how you like your egg cooked (less time for a runny yolk, more time for a set yolk).
  8. Check for doneness: If the cheese is melted and the egg whites are set, the toast is ready. If the egg white is still very runny, cook for 1-2 more minutes.
  9. Serve immediately as a quick breakfast or simple brunch idea.

Notes

  • For a creamy egg toast variation, mix 1 tablespoon of ricotta cheese with the egg before pouring it into the bread well.
  • If you prefer a crispier edge, brush the outside of the bread lightly with melted butter before cooking.
  • This recipe works well with other cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for extra gooey texture.
