Create a creamy, spiced, café-style chai latte at home using black tea, aromatic spices, and steamed milk.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, tea bags, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags.
  4. Add milk, heavy cream, and sugar to the saucepan.
  5. Heat gently until hot, but do not boil.
  6. Whisk until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is frothy.
  7. Pour into mugs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a stronger spice flavor, increase the amount of spices.
  • Adjust sugar to your preference.
  • You can use any type of milk you prefer, such as almond or oat milk.
  • For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and a vegan sweetener.
