Hand-held cookies filled with spiced apple filling, perfect for fall.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 46 tbsp ice water
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  3. Add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough forms.
  4. Roll dough and cut into circles.
  5. Combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  6. Place apple filling on half the dough circles. Top with remaining circles.
  7. Crimp edges with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  9. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Use a cookie cutter for even shapes.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes for easier handling.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
