Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 2 star anise (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise (if using) in a large pot.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Do not boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it steep for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Strain the cider to remove the spices and orange slices before serving.
  5. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a few strips of lemon peel along with the orange.
  • Adjust the amount of spices to your preference.
  • This cider can be made ahead and reheated gently.
