- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Cooking spray
- 1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
- Cut each mozzarella stick in half.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and oregano.
- Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip in egg, and roll in breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for extra crispiness.
- Place the coated sticks on a plate and freeze for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
- Lightly spray the mozzarella sticks with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 5-6 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
- Freezing the sticks before air frying prevents them from melting too quickly.
- For extra flavor, add grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Use pre-shredded mozzarella if you don’t have string cheese.
